Lithology and Thickness

It consists of red-colored conglomerates and sandstones with rare layers of siltstones and clays. The incomplete thickness is 600 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies with a sharp angular unconformity on the gneisses of the Archean Shakhdar Fm (шахдаринской серии) and on the granitoids of the Early Cretaceous Pamir-Shugnan Gr, containing fragments of both.

Upper contact

The overlying strata are unknown.

Regional extent

It is widespread in the Southwest Pamir.

Fossils

In the Edom Fm (едомской свите), spores and pollen of an Eocene and Oligocene appearance (Budanova, 1964b) have been found.


Age 

On the basis of fossil data, the age of the Fm is conditionally determined. Hence it is considered as Priabonian – Rupelian for schematic stratigraphic column purpose.
